Community Nurses
Community Nurses
Community (or District) Nurses are employed by North Yorkshire and York Primary Care Trust. They are attached to the Practice and work from their base at Strensall surgery.

Community Nurses perform a wide range of duties both in patients' homes and from the surgery buildings. They work closely with the Practice Nurses and General Practitioners.

Services provided by Community Nurses include:

  • Wound care
  • Hospital after-care
  • Health promotion
  • Immunisations and other injections
  • Monitoring long-term health problems in house-bound patients
  • Assessing the health needs of the house-bound including the provision of equipment to maximise independence
  • Care of the dying person and support for their family
  • Continence management
  • Ear syringing
The team consists of eight nurses at D, E and G grades.
