Phlebotomists

Two phlebotomists are employed by the practice to take blood samples. Clinics are held by appointment at all four sites.

Physiotherapists

Physiotherapists based at York Hospital hold regular treatment sessions at Strensall surgery. NHS physiotherapy is also available at the Sports Centre in Dunnington and at York Hospital.

All physiotherapy treatment requires a referral from your doctor. Appointments are arranged by the physiotherapy department at York Hospital.

Podiatrists

NHS podiatrists treat foot problems at our Strensall and Huntington premises. Patients are also treated at Whitecross Court in York.

This service usually requires referral from a doctor.

Midwives

The midwives working with the practice are based at York Hospital and are employed by the York Hospital Trust. They work closely with the doctors and also work as part of the hospital midwifery team.

They offer care and advice on all aspects of pregnancy including labour. They do this at clinics, antenatal classes, postnatal groups and in the home.

Community Psychiatric Nurses

Community psychiatric nurses (CPNs) support patients with mental illness in the community. They work from bases attached to Bootham Hospital and Pocklington Health Centre.

Referral is usually made by your General Practitioner.

Speech Therapists

Speech Therapists are based at our Huntington Surgery and are employed by North Yorkshire and York Primary Care Trust. If you need to contact the Speech Therapist call 01904 725457.
