COPD Health Forecasting Pilot Service
The Met Office has developed a new approach to the use of health forecasting, based on weather, current viral infections and real
time Primary Care and hospital health surveillance data. This new approach uses forecast data to initiate anticipatory treatment to reduce or avoid patients’ conditions getting worse. COPD patients will be invited to enrol on the Met Office database. The Met Office will make automated calls to these patients’ homes over winter when there are changes in weather or virus levels, so that patients can prepare themselves and reduce symptoms of illness getting worse. Click here for more information.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Our convenient and secure online system allows you to book doctor appointments and request repeat prescriptions. You need to register for Appointments Online at the surgery. Click here for more information. Remember to allow 2 working days before collecting your prescriptions.
Over 65 or at risk of infection? Get the flu jab!
Everyone aged 65 years and over is advised to be immunised. Immunisation is also advised for patients with chest
diseases (e.g. asthma or bronchitis), diabetes, a heart condition, strike, liver disease and other conditions which
reduce the ability to fight infection. The influenza virus changes every year so you should have a flu jab every year to make sure you are protected. The vaccine is changed every year to stay ahead of the virus.
HPV vaccination for girls between 12-13 years of age.
Human papilloma virus (HPV) is the name of a family of viruses that affect the skin and the moist membranes that line your
body (such as those found in the cervix). The HPV vaccination will be introduced as part of the national immunisation programme. There will be a three year catch up campaign, that will start from the autumn of 2008 for 12-13 year old girls, and will offer the HPV vaccine to girls who are between 12-18 years of age.
Volunteers wanted!
The Practice teaches medical students from the Hull & York Medical School, based at York University.
